psalm 16 in a nutshell

Hello guys, it’s been a minute I dropped a post here but here is a quick one it should bless someone

Minister: Let’s open our Bible to Psalm 16:6

Psalm 16:6 KJV
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places ; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

Minister: This week lines shall fall into pleasant places for you!

Congregation: Ameeeeen

Minister: You will have a goodly heritage now and beyond

Congregation: Ameeeen

Minister: Lift up your voice and turn that into prayer! Say

“Father this week and beyond, the lines are falling into pleasant places in my home, work, finances and in all ramifications”

Say “Father í have a goodly heritage…”

Now, do I want you not to have goodly heritage in your home, work, finances etc.? No nah

But look at what the scriptures is saying, let me give you a quick framework (cheat code) given to the disciples by Jesus upon the Ressurection

Luke 24:25-27 KJV
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

[26] Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?0b8bc2

[27] And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
…..

Luke 24:44-45 KJV
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and IN THE PSALMS, CONCERNING ME.

[45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

one more before we go back to read the text

1 Peter 1:9-11 KJV
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

[10] Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

[11] Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it TESTIFIED beforehand THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST, and THE GLORY THAT SHOULD FOLLOW.

Incase you don’t know already, the sufferings of Christ refers to the Incarnation and everything pertinent to it including His rejection by his own brethren, his betrayal, His death and burial.

The GLORY that should follow the sufferings refer to the Resurrection and everything pertinent to it—The ascension into our hearts as the Spirit and the work of the Spirit on the earth today until the bodily Resurrection of the Believer (Romans 8:11, 16-23)

So let’s go back to read the psalms in that Light

Psalm 16:1-11 KJV
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

[2] O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

[3] But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

[4] Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god : their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

[5] THE LORD is the PORTION of MINE INHERITANCE and of MY CUP: thou maintainest MY LOT.

[6] The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places ; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

[7] I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

[8] I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

[9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

[10] For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

[11] Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

I do not want to do a word for word and verse by verse exegesis to keep it short and simple, but does this look like the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow?

Let’s see the Apostles’ explanation

Acts 2:22-37 KJV
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

[23] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

[24] Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

[25] For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

[26] Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

[27] Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

[28] Thou hast made known to me THE WAYS OF LIFE; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

Now Peter’s hermeneutics…

[29] Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

[30] Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

[31] He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

[32] This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

[33] Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Amazing right? Another Psalm below to explain right hand (Psalm 110:1)

Most popular Psalm almost competing with Isaiah 53 lol

[34] For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

[35] Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

[36] Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both LORD and CHRIST.

So Jesus inherited the Title LORD and CHRIST upon His Resurrection from the dead, He was exalted to that position (Right Hand) To be our Lord and Christ

[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Let’s also see Bro Paul’s exposition

Acts 13:26-38 KJV
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

[27] For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

[28] And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

[29] And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

[30] But God raised him from the dead:

[31] And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

[32] And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the FATHERS,

[33] God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.  (Psalm 2:7)

[34] And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.  [Isaiah 55:3]

[35] Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

[36] For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

[37] But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

[38] Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is PREACHED UNTO YOU the forgiveness of sins:

wow wow

So God being my portion, my lot, my INHERITANCE etc. has nothing to do with cars, houses, jobs and better jobs, estates and inheritances, rebates and returns etc.

It’s clearly prophetic about the Christ as Jesus has explained it that way to the foundation Apostles including Peter and hence Peter explaining it that way

So we can then say “Way of Life” is the way to Eternal Life (John 14:6)

We could go on and on but what’s the goodly heritage?

That the Christ would be the seed of David (who is also the seed of Abraham who is also the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15)

Look at Paul again

Romans 1:1-4 KJV
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

[2] (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

[3] Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

[4] And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Is this clear now?

Can you now go back to read Psalm 2, 16 and 110, 118 and other Psalms in that Light?

I call you blessed!
